What is a Breast Augmentation?

There are two types of breast implants available: saline and silicone gel. Both implants are regarded as safe by the FDA. The most popular implants are silicone implants. Both saline and silicone gel implants are available in many different sizes and shapes. The newest silicone gel implants have a natural feel and may be a better choice for some patients.

Surgical Procedure
The breast augmentation procedure is typically performed as out-patient surgery either done under general anesthesia or deep sedation with nerve blockade.  This allows for the earlist recovery and best pain control. The operation is usually straightforward and lasts about 2 hours. Dr. Oppenheimer will see you the next day in his office to make sure that you are doing well.

Post Surgery
Most patients feel tired and sore. Some may experience slight discomfort that can be controlled by medication prescribed by Dr. Oppenheimer. You should be able to return to work within a few days, depending on the level of activity required for your job. You can expect to resume many normal day activities within a week and most activities within 3-4 weeks.

Are you a breast augmentation candidate?

If you are looking to enhance your breasts to...
  • improve your overall body shape because you feel your breasts are too small
  • restore breast volume lost due to weight loss or following pregnancy
  • achieve better symmetry if your breasts are different in shape or size
  • improve the shape of breasts that are sagging or have lost fullness
then breast augmentation may be the choice for you. Dr. Oppenheimer’s goal is to give you a natural look and feel to the size and shape you are seeking.
