As patients age, areas of fatty tissue begin to develop along the stomach, lower back, arms and legs. These areas are both unsightly and embarrassing. Clothing will fit poorly, sleeveless shirts look unappealing, and tight jeans become inaccessible. Stubborn fat and lax tissues, sometimes referred to as ‘love handles’, ‘saddle bags’, or ‘bat wings’, can see little improvement through diet and exercise alone. Correction of these difficult fatty areas is available, though. The surgeons at Clevens Face and Body Specialists offer the innovative SmartLipo procedure; a cutting-edge technique used to eliminate localized fatty tissue, restoring an attractive contour to the body, face, and neck.
Considered leaders in their field, the surgeons at Clevens Face and Body Specialists are Board Certified, and extensively trained with the SmartLipo technique. They are happy to offer their patients this safe and effective alternative to more invasive Liposuction procedures. Unlike traditional techniques, SmartLipo causes only minimal discomfort and requires little downtime. Additionally, SmartLipo has the ability to coagulate underlying tissues to prevent dimpling and sagging. As the only laser assisted lipolysis treatment to be approved by the FDA, SmartLipo offers the additional benefit of increasing the body’s own collagen production, which will subsequently reduce fine lines and wrinkles.
Who can benefit from SmartLipo?
SmartLipo can provide dramatic improvement for patients experiencing localized fatty deposits. Both men and women can find benefit from the procedure. They should be in generally good health, within a healthy weight limit, and continue to have good skin elasticity. The most common target areas for SmartLipo include the abdomen, lower back, inner and outer thighs, ‘love handles’ along the hips, as well as the lower face, jowls, and neck. Dr. Clevens and Dr. Ortega are able to sculpt areas of the body and face with their SmartLipo techniques, restoring youthful, healthy figure. The procedure can also take years off of the appearance as it stimulates the body’s own production of collagen, which is responsible for healthy skin. Fine lines, wrinkles, and will see a noticeable improvement after the SmartLipo procedure.
The SmartLipo Procedure:
SmartLipo is performed using a local anesthetic. On average, a SmartLipo session will take between 30 minutes and two hours, depending on the area and extent of correction required. The surgeon will begin the procedure by inserting a very small cannula (hollow tube), containing a laser fiber, into the predetermined area. While the cannula moves back and forth, a low level of laser energy will be emitted from the fiber. This energy will slowly melt away the fatty tissue, which is then suctioned out through the cannula.
The SmartLipo procedure can be customized for each individual patient’s unique needs, using one of three wavelength options. The technique is not intended to replace traditional Liposuction procedure, though. Generally, smaller areas of localized fat work best with the SmartLipo technique. For optimum results, SmartLipo can be combined with other procedures, such as a Tummy Tuck or Face Lift.
The painless SmartLipo procedure requires less downtime than more traditional Liposuction. Patients will experience only minimal bruising and swelling; most of which will resolve within the first week. Since the procedure is performed under local anesthetic, patients are up and around immediately. Normally, about two days are needed to recover; most patients are back at work or school within 24 to 48 hours. The results of SmartLipo can be seen as soon as the initial swelling resolves, in approximately one week. Over the following three to six months, the area will continue to improve.
1. What areas can benefit from a SmartLipo procedure?
SmartLipo can be beneficial for almost any area troubled by localized fatty deposits. The most commonly treated areas include the abdomen, ‘love handles’, thighs, arms, neck, and jowls.
