Fellow, Facial Plastic Surgery
Ross A. Clevens, MD, FACS and the Clevens Face and Body Specialists team are excited to welcome Renata Khelemsky, MD, our fellow in facial plastic surgery for 2017-18. With nearly a decade of surgical experience, Dr. Khelemsky’s advanced training includes an internship in the Department of General Surgery and a residency in Maxillofacial Surgery at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York City. She earned her Doctor of Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, NY, where she was also invited to join the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Prior to medical school, Dr. Khelemsky graduated Summa Cum Laude from Columbia University with a degree in Neuroscience and Behavior.
Originally from New York City, Dr. Khelemsky is published in numerous medical journals and has participated in several professional conferences including the “Dallas Rhinoplasty Symposium” as well as the “Advances in Rhinoplasty Course” hosted by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. To further her clinical education, she has completed several externships and an observership in Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the Hedgewood Surgical Center in New Orleans. Dr. Khelemsky has authored a number of presentations focusing on facial cosmetic evaluation and rhinoplasty to the Department of Plastic Surgery at Jacobi Medical Center in Bronx, NY. Additionally, she is dedicated to improving the future of surgical training and recently presented “Making the Case for Simulation in Surgical Education” to leaders of the AO Foundation, a global nonprofit organization led by an international group of surgeons who aim to achieve more effective patient care. Her talk focused on her current research with TouchSurgery, a virtual mobile app that aims to share and foster safe surgical techniques with physicians around the world.
Dr. Khelemsky will complete a yearlong fellowship in cosmetic and reconstructive facial plastic surgery under the mentorship of Dr. Ross Clevens. On her personal time, Dr. Khelemsky enjoys tennis, skiing, traveling, and playing piano.
